He Wanted A Boy, So When His Daughter Was Born He Went Into An Uncontrollable Rage

When a woman first learns that she is pregnant, it can be a dozen or more weeks until she learns whether it is going to be a boy or a girl. And while most parents are excited about that news, either way, it turns out, Ohio chiropractor Dr. Jason Bittner was furious when he learned he was having a girl. The married father of two tried to suppress his anger and succeeded for several months after the baby girl was born.

But when she was three-months-old, he snapped. Dr. Bittner flew into a rage and began assaulting the helpless infant because she was “fussy” and he “wanted a son.” His abuse traumatized the infant and has left her with brain injuries and more than two-dozen bone fractures.

Last week the grand jury indicted the violent chiropractor on counts of felonious assault and endangering children. The attack on the infant girl occurred last February at his home in Mason. He had grown fed up with having a little girl and beat her nearly to death.

Bittner Chiropractic’s website shared an update about how the “good” doctor and his wife Casey, who is a physical therapist and runs the practice with him, welcomed their second daughter into the world on November 13, 2017.

The girl was delivered without any complications or medication and weighed 8 lbs and 7 oz. The update came with a photo showing Casey breastfeeding the infant while Jason beams a smile at the camera next to her.

Just months later, the infant would be back in the hospital – this time for injuries her father had inflicted upon her for not being his son.

Prosecutor David Fornshell said that 33-year-old Jason was disappointed that the baby was a girl and not a boy.

“He was frankly resentful of that fact and also was very intolerant of the fact that she fussed,” Fornshell said Tuesday.

When Casey brought her injured daughter to the hospital at the end of February, she said the child had an “accident.” But doctors recognized the injuries for what they were – abuse.

After the violent assault, the infant was diagnosed with traumatic brain injuries. She also sustained 28 rib fractures from her father’s beatdown. On Friday, Bittner was arrested at his family practice.

Bittner graduated from Miami University in 2008 and then attended Palmer College of Chiropractic in Florida. He graduated there in 2011. He claimed that he wanted to go into the profession after he sustained a sports-related injury in college. Only after three months of chiropractic care did he make a recovery. This incident inspired him to follow that path.

Despite the aggression he showed toward his infant daughter whom he calls “fussy,” Bittner claims he is “crazy” about his wife and his daughter.

Despite his love for the infant, he has potentially ruined her future with the traumatic brain injury.

The judge set his bond at $25,000. The prosecutor asked for $100,000.
